EAST ORANGE HOUSING AUTHORITY BUILDS FOR FUTURE, HONORS HISTORY WITH 60TH ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN

Building Homes, Changing Lives Campaign will unveil new branding, outdoor banners, the Diamond Jubilee Gala and the start of construction on $30 Million in redevelopment projects.

(EAST ORANGE, NJ) The East Orange Housing Authority (EOHA) will celebrate 60 years of service to the East Orange Community with Building Homes, Changing Lives, a community-based campaign highlighting the commitment of the organization to provide affordable housing and social services. Since inception, the EOHA has provided housing resources to thousands of individuals, families, senior citizens and, persons with disabilities. The Building Homes, Changing Lives Campaign will feature past and present accomplishments of the EOHA. Additionally, planned future developments and programs will be highlighted, including over $30 million in new housing development projects.

The campaign will be co-sponsored by the nonprofit subsidiary of the EOHA, the East Orange Housing and Community Development Corporation (EOHCDC). The EOHCDC serves as a community conduit to provide new housing opportunities and social programs otherwise not possible under the charter of the EOHA. Funds raised will benefit all EOHCDC programs, EOHA program participants and community members of the City of East Orange.

The launch of the campaign begins on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the EOHA Diamond Jubilee Gala to be held at the Pleasantdale Chateau (West Orange, NJ). The black-tie fete will highlight the history and future of EOHA, individual success stories, and organizations that support the pride and renewal of East Orange.

  • Keith Pressey- Director of Community and Government Relations, Ambrose Ward Mansion;

  • Royston Allman- Founder & Executive Director, Ampere Civic Improvement Association;

  • Valerie Jackson- City of East Orange, Director of Policy, Planning & Development;

  • Chief Andre Williams- East Orange Fire Department;

  • Chief Phyllis Bindi- East Orange Police Department;

  • Lance Wigfall- Legendary National and State Record Breaking Track and Field Icon;

  • Dawn Cooper- Executive Assistant to the Global Head of Structured Credit Trading, Goldman Sachs & Co.;

  • Gwendolyn Goodman-Hardman- CEO/Founder, Hedges and Highways Ministries, Worldwide;

  • Darryl Filmore, Jr.- Hotel Manager, The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel in NYC and Minister, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church;

  • Zammeah Bivins-Gibson- Executive Director, Isaiah House; Additional Success Stories to be honored.

The festive evening will be hosted by Mistress of Ceremonies and EOHA Director of Operations, Elena D. Coley and boasts exquisite dining, premium open bar, entertainment, a silent auction and a VIP Pre-Gala Reception with our Honorees and esteemed guests for our VIP ticket holders.
